South Texas school district shuts down after surge in COVID-19 cases
A school district nearly two hours southeast of San Antonio is closing its doors until next week, claiming that COVID-19 cases have jumped on its campuses. Runge ISD announced Wednesday, August 23, that it will be shutting down the rest of the week until Tuesday, August 29. The news was announced via a letter from Superintendent Hector Dominguez that was sent to parents. Runge ISD also put all extracurricular activities on hold until August 29.
