Some schools in Riverside, San Bernardino counties closed Monday due to storm
Several school districts in Riverside and San Bernardino counties announced that they will be closed Monday, Aug. 21 because of concerns following Tropical Storm Hilary’s arrival in Southern California on Sunday.
The storm hit the counties harder than expected when it moved east from its course that had been projected to hit the coast.
Here are some of the local districts that have announced closures for Monday, though it’s advisable to check for updates here later or directly with schools Monday morning.
Riverside County
Beaumont Unified
California School for the Deaf, Riverside
Coachella Valley Unified
Desert Sands Unified
Norco Elementary, though the rest of Corona-Norco Unified was expected to be open
Palm Springs Unified
Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint Unified
Note: Riverside Unified announced Sunday night that its schools will be open.
Also, the Riverside Community College District – which includes Moreno Valley College, Norco College and Riverside City College – announced Sunday night that it will be open Monday.
San Bernardino County
Adelanto Elementary School District
Apple Valley Unified
Barstow Unified
Bear Valley Unified
Colton Joint Unified
Fontana Unified
Helendale School District
Morongo Unified
Redlands Unified
Rialto Unified
Victor Valley Unified
Note: San Bernardino City Unified announced Sunday night that its campuses will be open.
Also, Crafton Hills College and San Bernardino Valley College announced that their campuses will be closed Monday.
