Sippican Elementary School Closed on Wednesday, May 24, 2023
Superintendent Michael S. Nelson and Principal Marla Sirois announce that there will be no school on Wednesday, May 24, for students at Marion’s Sippican Elementary School after a sprinkler malfunction resulted in water damage throughout the school.
The first reports of the broken sprinkler came in around 8:12 p.m. The Marion Fire Department quickly responded to the scene and was able to shut down a broken sprinkler on the second floor. There was no fire in the building.
There is extensive water damage to classrooms on the first and second floors. There were no injuries.
The district will provide further updates and guidance to families regarding the remainder of the school week. Any further changes to the schedule will be announced via email and through all the news media as well as posted to the district website.
