Pascagoula schools to resume class Wednesday, 12 April, 2023
The city-wide boil water notice issued in Pascagoula Monday is now affecting education and other service areas.
All schools within Pascagoula city limits were released early Tuesday morning. Around 9 a.m., buses started taking students off campuses.
Students will return to class on Wednesday, April 12, with a two-hour delay. Elementary and academy students will report at 9:30 a.m. and secondary students at 10:30 a.m. Students who ride the bus should report two hours later than normal.
The Jackson County Services Complex, home to the tax collector, tax assessor and land records office, was also closed Tuesday. The courthouse, including circuit court, county court, chancery court, district attorney and circuit clerks offices, was closed as well.
The boil water notice was announced Monday after an unidentified large water main leak.
By Tuesday at 9 p.m., the public works department had identified the source of the leak and would begin repairs as soon as possible.
