Broward School Board Changes Calendar For Last Week of School
(PARKLAND, FL)
The Broward County School Board has decided to adjust the school calendar for the last week of school this year, and specifically the last day of school. The last day of school is scheduled to be a half day on Thursday, June 8, 2023, but that will change to a full day of school per the Board’s decision today.
The statement from the Broward School Board says:
“During the Special School Board Meeting held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, the Broward County School Board approved changing the 2022/23 school calendar to make up for the instructional time lost during the historic rainfall and flooding that caused the closure of Broward County Public School (BCPS) campuses and administrative offices on April 13 and 14, 2023.
To make up for the instructional time lost, June 8, 2023 – the last day of school – has changed from an early release day to a full day of school. As the weather event happened near the end of the school year, the District was left with limited options to make up for the lost instructional time.”
