Bearden Middle School to remain closed on Friday, following early closure on Thursday “due to a lingering odor.”

Parents were alerted to pick up students and buses took students home on Thursday.
The odor is a result of work in the auditorium, according to a message sent by the school principal to parents. Students were provided lunch.
District maintenance staff tested the air outside the auditorium and found the air quality to not be harmful, but a trace of the odor was found, prompting the school closure, officials said in a message to parents.
The entire district started on a two-hour delay today because of the potential for hazardous roads and flooding from the overnight storm.
